PERSPEKTIF: Journal of Social and Library Science permits the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in research and manuscript preparation, provided that their use complies with the principles of transparency, accountability, originality, confidentiality, and research integrity.
Authors may use AI tools for language improvement, translation, transcription, coding assistance, data organization, literature organization, or other supporting purposes. However, AI must not replace the authors’ intellectual contribution, critical analysis, interpretation, or scholarly judgment.
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, references, data, and overall content of the manuscript.
AI tools, chatbots, and Large Language Models (LLMs) cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, and ethical aspects of scholarly work.
Authors must disclose any substantive use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the manuscript. The disclosure should identify the AI tool used and explain its purpose.
AI must not be used to fabricate or manipulate research data, participants, interviews, observations, survey responses, quotations, images, or research findings.
Authors must independently verify all AI-assisted references, citations, DOIs, quotations, and factual information. Fabricated or non-existent references generated by AI are unacceptable.
Authors must not upload confidential, sensitive, personally identifiable, or ethically protected research data to AI systems without appropriate authorization and data-protection safeguards.
Because PERSPEKTIF applies a double-blind peer-review process, reviewers and editors must protect manuscript confidentiality. Submitted manuscripts, unpublished data, figures, tables, or confidential editorial information must not be uploaded to AI systems where confidentiality and data security cannot be guaranteed.
AI may support technical or administrative tasks, but it must not replace independent scholarly judgment. Final peer-review assessments and editorial decisions must remain the responsibility of human reviewers and editors.
The journal prohibits:
Suspected inappropriate or undisclosed AI use may result in requests for clarification or revision, manuscript rejection, correction, retraction, or other actions consistent with the journal’s Publication Ethics policy.
PERSPEKTIF supports the responsible use of AI as a supporting technology, while maintaining that human authors, reviewers, and editors remain fully accountable for the integrity and quality of scholarly communication.
