Abstract

Stress is a problem that is often experienced by students, especially during the final period of study which is characterized by academic and extracurricular demands, including writing a thesis. This study aims to analyze the relationship between stress levels and sleep quality in final students of the Faculty of Public Health at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra Medan. This study used quantitative methods with a cross sectional design. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Public Health at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra Medan which was held in July-August 2024. The population in this study were all students of the Faculty of Public Health at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra Medan. The sampling technique in this study was Accidental Sampling, so that the sample in this study was 36 students. Data collection through. Data analysis with bivariate analysis of chi-square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between stress levels and sleep quality with a P-value of 0.03 (P < 0.05). It is recommended that the University provide stress management programs such as counseling, relaxation training, or meditation for final year students, as well as raising awareness of the importance of sleep quality through seminars or workshops. In addition, support for balanced extracurricular activities also needs to be developed to help students manage student stress.
