Abstract

Good or normal nutritional status occurs when the body receives good food intake over a long period of time, and there is a balance between energy intake and expenditure in children. Malnutrition status is a lack of nutritional intake for children, the presence of infections that the child may suffer from or deficiencies in family food security, poor parenting patterns, suboptimal health services and poor environmental health. Excess nutrition and obesity occur due to the presence of excess and not optimal nutrition, this can be caused by foods containing high levels of sugar and fat accompanied by a lack of physical activity. This study aims to determine the level of nutritional status in elementary school children based on body mass index according to age (BMI/U). This research is descriptive with a cross-sectional design. This research was conducted at SDS YPI Deli Tua. The population of this study was 50 elementary school children who used a step scale to measure body weight (BB) and to measure height using a microtoise. The measurement results will be grouped into nutritional status based on the BMI/U cut of point value based on the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2020 concerning Child Anthropometric Standards. The research results showed that the dominant age of respondents was 11 years old at 56%, the dominant gender was male at 54%. Nutritional status was dominated by the normal category of 28 people at 56%, while the obesity category was 10 people at 20%.
